Autumn in Benders 2012
Bendigo at its best. What more can I say. Winter and all her comforts and snugness is just around the corner, as the leafy streets of Bender's inner suburbs display their glorious hues. Grace Kelly lives on at the gallery, and the food and open fires of some fave pubs tempt you with sheer gluttony.
Some suggested fave haunts for Autumn:
- The Hub, Mitchell St
- The Manchester Arms, Long Gully. Yes, sounds scary. But this little pub shits all over pretention and wankiness. Good food, homely environment with 'make your own' tea and coffee facilities. A glowing fire and a glorious court yard. Daggy but loveable, ideal for a quiet midweek pub meal. (Nice wine list too).
- Castlemaine. Its 30 minutes out of B Town but the culture changes dramatically in this short drive. I love Castlemaine. There is a vibe and energy that reeks creativity and embraces the eccentric in all of us. Castlemaine's carefree nature is packed with enough book shops, botiques, cafes and fine dining to keep a culture vulture like me happy for days!
